This is our entry in the Manaiakalani Film Festival.

Reflection

What have you enjoyed doing this year?
Well do you know how some of the year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to go to camp and leave their parents behind for three days that was the most enjoyable activity this year. As the first day passed with a gleaming sunshine we all woke to birds tweeting loudly. "Yee yoo,"said the boys when they had found out that the Considerators our group was doing outings first. First Roller skating, bowling and Rock climbing. On the second day we had camp cooking. Our hands were really icky in the end of making s'mores. What have you had fun learning this year? Of course Active Earth. I really liked learning about it because we got to know all about the Earth and Global Warming. I really would still like to be learning about Active Earth if we could. If I would have to work on any subject it would have to be Writing. What were your best memories this year? Getting to know new friends like Jay'Lee and meeting up with old friends. My goal for next year is to study on my writing.

Extension Project Common!!!!!!

Hi my name is Makerita and this year has been very busy with all the asignments we had to do in the extension class. This time it was the best asignment and it was all about the common wealth games in New Delhi. My assignment was the movie below and it is all about archery. I have loved having to work on this, it was so fun. I looked all over the internet for photo’s and all the hard worked had paid off.

My movie was really cool well I think so. Australia’s mens recurve Archery team had won the gold medal in Archery. McCal Casie is my favourite archer even though he is from Australia.
I really would like to be a frog because they just catch there food in a blink of an eye.

I hope you enjoy my movie. In my movie it shows that I had to compare a little critter to a archery athlete. Let’s see if you can figure out MY little critter!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait for the next assignment.

Demolishing the Old Dental Clinic.

As the Predatory digger started to demolish the Old Dental Clinic on Friday people stood round watching hopelessly going to miss it. Zion looked like she was lost when she saw the digger start to dig in to the building. I thought that the massive wasps nest would collapse and the wasps will go flying around.

When the digger started to dig everyone started to say the same as usual “WHOAAA”. Windows shattered everywhere except for one that had just dropped to the ground. The building was on precarious lean as if it were on the end of a cliff.

As we were saying our last good byes to the old dental clinic and headed back to class we saw a lot of rubble left on the concrete. An almighty crash ended the whole show.

Immersion Assembly

On the first day of the term we usually start off with a Immersion Assembly and this term was the same as usual. People in a huddle hugging each other at the door and blocking the way was very annoying. I was really shocked when the second bell rang and Ashleigh still hadn’t walked through that door. Shoal and I started moaning.

“C’mon Ashleigh”, I said to myself. Then we just had to deal with it and walk to the door to line up. Everyone was so happy to see their friends but me and Shoal weren’t. When we sat down in the hall for Assembly Ashleigh just came in and sat down beside us. I was so glad. “Look” I said to Ashleigh. “The topic for this term is Little Critters”, I said.

“I’m a pesky mosquito”, said Mr Burt in a mosquito costume crawling around on the floor when mosquito’s are meant to be flying. He was scaring all of the little kids.

Finally we got to see team 1. They were dressed up in black with white gloves. Mrs George also had a mask of spider man on. They were doing an item about Incy Wincy Spider it was ok. I would rate it 8/10.

My most favourite item was Team 4. They were acting out as if they were all a Colony of Bees. Mr Barks was the Queen Bee, Miss Squires was the servant she was feeding Mr Barks. The only thing Miss King and Miss Vaafusuanga were doing was dancing in the background. While Miss Garden was sweeping the floor. People were laughing really loud when Mr Barks the Queen Bee took out a fake baby from under him saying that they were twins

“Everybody say Little Critters on three.,1,2,3”, said Mr Burt. "Little Critters!!” All the little kids yelled even Sante the teacher. I felt a little tingle vibrate through my head saying that this term is going to be great.:)

Polynesians

As the topic for my group is polynesians we have been studying about Kupe and how he sailed to New Zealand. Many people figured that Kupe had fought a octupus on the journey.
Please sit back and relax.

Canterbury Earthquake

On Saturday morning at 4:30AM in Christchurch, a 7.1 earthquake on the ritcher scale had hit Christchurch with out any warning. As the people were to pick up there children and run along, the ground was still making buildings collapse and tilt to the back of their yards. As the devastation of Christchurch grew by the second, the unstable buildings made extensive damage. Many problems such as floods were caused by the liquefaction of the mud and water merging together. During the Earthquake roads were littered with water and mud.

The many dangers for Christchurch when this had happened was the doorways because the people were affraid of it collapsing down on them. Many people had been dangered with the triggered gas leaks that unexpectinglly had happened. As the people had evacuated out of the dangered place they all used to call home people who were homeless still in pyjama’s and still wandering what had just happened.

The End By Rita.

The whole school went to the court waiting for Cross Country. My legs were shaking starting to make me cold and my fingers were starting to get a bit numb. We were in our house colours. The house colours are TAKITUMU(yellow),TE ARAWA,(Red)TAKITIMu,(yellow) and MATAUA(green). My house colour was TAINUI
(Blue.) Go Tainui.
“10 year old come up onto the start line ready for your race” announced Mr Burt. Some of us were nervous. The clappers went bang and we went. We were all clumped together as some people were sprinting fast to get ahead of the bunch. When we were starting to spread out we left a couple of people behind.During the run I was trying not to stop like how champions never give up. It was really muddy that I almost got sunk in it.It was squishing through my toes. As I went past Mrs Squries she was taking videos of people. I was hoping that she wouldn’t take a video of me. Before I knew it I was getting closer to the finish line. I was starting to. With a burst of speed I was starting to sprint a little bit faster. As I was close to the finish line I could hear lots of people clapping and cheering for me. I was happy that my run was over. I had to quickly go and wash my feet and watch the other people run. I had fun doing that run.I had tried my hardest and it all payed off in the end.

My Favourite

My favourite Ice Cream is cookies and chocolate because when ever I put it inside my mouth it makes my mouth dribble with saliva. My favourite smoothie is the Monkey shake at Valentines but that sometimes makes my stomach feel sore. I actually have a lot of other favourite Ice Creams. Many people like Cookies and Cream but that sometimes gets to yuck for me when I eat it to much. This is my favourite Ice Cream and Smoothie. Please keep commenting.

My favourite Model

My favourite model is Tyra Banks she is so good at modeling. Many people love her but when she has no make-up on she looks really weird but some people still love her when she has no make-up on.

All of the winners in the cycles I think are prettier than her. I really like this picture of her but I hate this picture because she has no make-up on. Well this is my favourite model. Please keep posting comments and hit the comments right back to you.

Having to go to Australia for Good Is Really Sad

Having to go to Australia is really sad. I feel so excited but at the same time I would miss my best friends so much. Everything is going so fast but it is just how life is going on. I have never been to Australia before but things in Australia is really cool that is what my Auntie says. My Auntie says that everything inside Australia is really cheap. The Auntie that is living in Australia right now is living in Sydney but my favorite place in Australia is the Gold Coast. Many people say that the Gold Coast is really cool. When I go there I wish to go to Dream World. I always hear my auntie speaking about the place where she stays. She says that there are many sorts of Theme Parks we would be able to go to. I wish I could be there right now. Having to leave the class is really really sad. By the time I get there I would really like to enroll for a really cool school. I would like to make new friends and get to see my relatives I have never seen before. I am going to miss all my friends and my church members. Bye BF's.

My favourite Netball player

Wow this is really hard having to choose my favourite netball player. This award will have to go to a Samoan player named Maria Tutaia she is the woman. When ever she gets the ball she makes a good use of it and they get a goal. I wish I would be like her when I grow up. My second favourite netball player is the very tall shooter in the Silver Ferns. Irene van Dyk, she is really good at shooting.
Well these are my first and second favourite netball players.

Go Spain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wohooo!!!!!! Spain won. Amazing. This is a miracle. Olai,Olai,Olai,Olai. Spain rocks. The amazing goal was scored by a bold dude. He is the, man. At first the game was going really tough. Uruguay had a really good defence. BUT, near the end a bold dude had got a score. It was tiring having to watch the game early in the morning. My dad was taking over the remote. We all wanted to watch cartoons. It turned out to be a really good game. When the game had finished my brother and my mum went to the doctors and they saw these three girls singing a Spain song. It was pitch perfect. That made my day really cool.
The end. By Makerita.

Immersion Assembly

Mighty Mariners
On a lovely morning with the sun gazing down on us all the teachers met up in the hall for an Immersion Assembly which is where we get to know what our new topic would be. I was so excited. When I walked through the door I heard laughter from here and there. Everybody was talking about the teachers costumes. The funniest one was Mr Barks costume because he was dressed up as a viking I had seen on How To Train You Dragon. Once I had looked on to the wide screen that was on the stage I had saw a Topic that said “Mighty Mariners”. No wonder why Mr Barks was dressed like something that was close to being a Mariner.

Once the voices of the children had lowered teachers started to walk up the stage. First was Mr J the small one. He was talking about all kinds of boats like Titanic. Second up was team one. That was my second favourite team. They had a lot of interesting facts about Kupe the person who had discovered New Zealand. Some things they were talking about I already knew. I really loved the Graphics Kingston L had drawn. I loved the animation he drew about Kupe sailing to New Zealand.

When team two had finished team three came out with a bang and with Arr me Hearty. They were all dressed up as pirates would be. There item was the best for me. It was what we all needed from a long holiday. They had a lot of party popper guns which explained why they came out with a bang. Near the end Mrs Mackinlay popped out and said that she had found treasure through the holiday. Her treasure was chocolate coins. Most people got some chocolate but I didn’t.

In the end I thought that everything was cool. I can’t wait till next Term. With all the wacky costumes. This term really looks like fun.

Year 5 and 6 Extension Project

For the last Couple of weeks the year 5 and 6 extension group have been studying about Mt Tarawera. So far we have got really close to the history of Mt Tarawera. So we have decided to make a little movie that shows all the information about Mt Tarawera. Each of us had partaken in this.

My part was a big part it was about what happened before the eruption. It was a lot of fun and laughter. I had to speak about how the people of Te-wairoa were like before the eruption. The people of Te-wairoa were having a very good life till...................

The eruption of Mt Tarawera had begun. It was really scary having a life like that.
In the end nothing was left. Only mud and ash. It was a lot of fun. Some things were hard but I had still stuck together in the end.

For the last Couple of weeks the year 5 and 6 extension group have been studying about Mt Tarawera. So far we have gotten really close to the History of Mt Tarawera. So we have decided to make a movie that shows all the information about Mt Tarawera. Each of us had partaken in this. My part was a big part it was about what happened before the eruption. It was a lot of fun and laughter. In the end we got it through with. That was really cool. I wish to do it again some time. I think that I could have improved on the graphics that I had drew. I also think that I could've improved on the voice over because I didn't have enough clever vocab. That is all I think I needed to work on. Thanks for the fun Mrs Tele'a.

Beyonce is my favourite singer. She is so glamorous and pretty I wish to be her. Maybe when I grow up I could be just like her. Her most best song for me is going to have to be All The Single Ladies.
My second best favourite singer would be Miriah Kerry. She has got the most highest voice but I will still go for Beyonce. They are so cool.
My third would have to be Justin Bieber . He is so cool. All I like about him is his voice. I don't like him like all those other girls do. Growse. He really does have a nice voice.

Rock Our World

Rock Our World 12 Rita

1. What did I do well?
I represented for someone who was away for Family night (day)Which was awesome. I participated in the video conference with D'Wayne Edward's.

2. How could I have Improved to what I did?
I could have improved on all of the angles from the camera. I also could have helped someone else when they needed help.

Brick wall
What held you back from doing better?
It was the time that held us back from everything and all the stuff that we still had to do before all the time had been taken off. It was also all the illustration s we had to get done. In the end we had finished.

Purpose.........
Why did we even bother to take part in Rock Our World?
List some things down:
1. We had a global connection around the world with people that participated in R.O.W. (Rock Our World)
2. So that the year 5's can have an experience.
3.So we can have many more opportunities
4. So that anything the R.O.W people need to be done they can turn to us.
5. So that anyone who is in Extension they can have a turn participating in it.

I ran to the front again the thing I had missed out was the end when they had drewn. I missed out the best part. Everyone was angry and wanted a rematch with that team. I was really mad with them. KPE Episode 252: "Call of the Cruins"

Litia and Makerita, Room 15
"Call of the Cruins" by Elizabeth Pulford is Episode 252 of KPE.
"Call of the Cruins" tells us about the realities of pioneering life in early New Zealand. Emeline Malone (the main character) is a child of the 1880s and this story tells of her everyday life and responsibilities which are so very different to those faced by children today. Life in a sealing community was difficult. In this book Emeline risks her life to save a baby seal. Now she has the responsibility of ensuring its survival. Her determination to keep her secret Cruin alive tests her resourcefulness and ingenuity. Life in a pioneering community, especially one that earns its living from the dangerous job of seal hunting, is harsh. When her father and brother go missing in a boating disaster, Emeline and her family face a very dark future.
Have a listen .....

The Rematch with Room14

Room 14 were eagerly waiting for the rematch game to begin. Once room 15 got to the bottom field the game was already set up. Room 15 were so excited.

"Go" shouted Miss King. Suddenly Room 14 and 15 started charging. We were trying to get to the safe zone but as soon as everybody got to the middle we stopped. We were having a rematch of a game called Capture the Flag on the bottom field.
Everybody was ready to tag and to rescue people. Some people started dodging and trying to make a run for it. I was excited about playing the game again. We were all running around with excitement.

Lots of people started shouting because Oshania had the flag but she wouldn't even try running with it or giving it to someone else to try and get us a point. I was starting to get frustrated. I wanted to run back to our territory but people would tag me. Once room14 got the last point we all felt disappointed and depressed. When we got back to class people were moaning and groaning at Oshania and Teresa. The End.

My Stupendous Term

Kia Ora this term has been extremely fun. I have alot of highlights but only have my top three. One of them were going camp. It was the bomb. My most likeable thing to do was cook dampers,go roller skating, bowling and rock climbing.

My second highlight is having a video conference with a famous shoe desighner D'Wayne. We got to ask alot of questions. His answers were very interesting to hear. All he would talk about was his life and how he had gotten his job.

My last but not least highlight is having a test to get into extention. It was very difficult. I would always get nervous.(I even shake.) Sotimes I forget about the test's to get into extention. So those are my three highlights from this term. My two goals are to.....

Studie hard for this coming term and to have a better attitude in class. Next term I think the theme is going to be about volcanoes. I don't know but I think it is going to be about that. I hope you join me next term for more things that we are going to be learning. Kakite Ano.

Swimming

Yay, Rm15 got to go swimming. Everyone was steaming hot because they had sort of finished a game called Capture The Flag. Once we had left the school grounds everyone was excited. When we had gotten near the pools we all ran inside.

Finally we hopped into the pool.It was freezing.I really wanted to get out but I just had to stay in. Once Miss Squires had said go to me, I swam as fast as I could and by the time I had gotten to the middle I was gasping for breath. I had thought I was useless at swimming. As soon as I had stopped at the end I was all worn out.

Then I went for my second attempt. I felt even worn by the time I had reached the middle. I had heard someone laugh at me and that's what put me down. When I had gotten out of the pool, I ran straight to the person and splash them on the face with water.

That made me get in trouble and until we had to go that was the last time I would hop in. In the end I felt very ,very, very grumpy and sad. I started blaming the person who laughed at me. But eventually I got over it.

Sit Back and relax this will be a ride you will never forget.

Video Confrence

On a calm afternoon some of the 5 and 6 extension people stayed back to have a video conference with the famous shoe designer D,Wayne. It was a lot of fun. We got to learn all about his life and how he got the job (it was very interesting.) At first I had thought that it was going to be all boring but once he told us about his life I started to get into it. The most useful thing to him is a letter that had been written by his mum. One day when he was working he had saw a flier that said that there was a shoe competition going on. He had told all of his buddies at work about the competition but they had thought he was crazy. So he had ignored them and told his mum and his mum said that he could do it. Then he signed up and won the competition but when he went to collect his prize it was a job. The people said that he was to young for the job so they had to search for another person. That was very sad but interesting.Check Spelling
The three sentences he told to us was Get a Mentor Believe in yourself and Work hard. Those three sentences will help everyone achieve their goals.Bye for now.

Early European Settlers to NZ

Room 15 have been finding out about the Early Europeans who came to NZ. We read about the Whalers and Sealers, Missionaries, Settlers and Traders. We wrote scripts as if we were one of these people and recorded our scripts with our animations of the European ships arriving in NZ playing in the background. Mine is one of the ones that was finished and played on P.E.N.N. - our school news programme

On a windy Friday the whole of P.T England went to the P.T England reserve for a little picnic. By the time we got to the reserve I was very excited. When we all got free to go I ran straight for the beach. Whenever I went past Brooklyn I always saw gluggy clay in her hands. Finally I got hungry so I quickly ran up for a little snack. By the time I got back down everyone was going for a snack. Even Ashleigh went. So I was all alone but once 2 or 3 minutes went past it was full again.
After a little while went past, Karaoke started. I was really excited because I love singing. Once it was my turn I got up and sang it felt so embarrassing that I nearly fainted. When I got out of the circle of doom I felt like I could breath again.I sang No Air that was my favourite song when I was about 6 or 8. It went so smooth except for my heart beat it was gong pitter patter pitter patter. Then we all had to pack up, it was very very fun because after wards me and my family went to Burger King. I felt so special that day. The End.

"Albert" by William Taylor

"Albert" by William Taylor

Litia and I have chosen "Albert" for our first podcast in 2010. Joey's Mum loves going to the Refuse Transfer Station (another name for the rubbish dump) because she often finds treasures there. The most valuable treasure Joey and his mother ever found at the dump was Albert, a very suprising cat.
