Makerita's Prospective Writing

Tom was quite the hiker, but even for him climbing this very cliff was hard. He had spent days, and nights diligently searching for a particular martial art school he had been longing to attend. And finally as he had reached the top of a lofty peak, his search had come to an end. The martial arts school was in sight.

He dragged himself towards the school determined to reach it. When he finally reached the door he simply knocked. Will they open the door? Will I get rejected? Should I turn back now? He anxiously waited for someone to answer the door. Then the door started to creak open, and a tall figured man appeared through the entrance. Tom didn’t know what to do, so he stood there and bowed down in a respected matter. But the man stood with a straight face and pointed directly to his right. Then slammed the door.

Tom felt down. And felt as if he wasn’t ready to enter his dojo. And that he had to prove worthy enough to enter. So he sat down and humbled himself. Then decided to meditate. He kept this going over night, and just half way through the next day. The silence broke when the same man opened the door and stood in the middle of the entrance once again. Tom raised his head and glared at the mans eyes, hoping he’ll let him in this time. But the same actions occurred within the 2 seconds. He raised his arm to his right, and as soon as that happened Tom soul was once again crushed.

With a heavy heart Tom stood up and dragged himself towards the stairs leading away from the Dojo. Then with one last thought his emotions changed. He clenched his fists, he darkened his eyes, and turned sharply around. He staunchly walked to the door and kicked it right open. When the man appeared once again through the doorway he made a swaying motion displaying as if he would want to be challenging the tall man to a fight.

Then again he pointed to his right. Tom glared to where he was pointing and read a sign. It had said ‘Please use the side door’. Tom looked down, and made a facial of sorrowfulness. He wasn’t listening to the man the whole time, or in other words looking to where the man was pointing. And finally when he did, he had already done something wrong. Too late.

This is what the B1 class did with Mrs Nua. It is about two cereals we had to try and compare.

What is 'Protein' and why do we need it?

Today for our literacy class we were in Mrs Lagitupu's. We got the opportunity to research upon the subject that we had to choose from a list. My group which consisted of Brooklyn, Ata, Jay'lee and I chose to research 'What is Protein and why do we need it?' The presentation above shows you what we made. I really enjoyed working together in a group with them, and hopefully in our next we could work together again. Hope you enjoy the presentation.

Makerita Week 5 SSW

Waking up to the noise of rain pounding against the roof of my house made me want to snuggle deeper into bed. But it was sadly a school day. The usual ray of sunshine that would pour through my window each morning, was overtaken by a grey dark misty sort of intake. I reluctantly gave in to the calls from my mother down stairs saying “get up Anabell, it’s 8:00am you’ll miss your bus!”

With a sigh I kissed my mom goodbye and walked out the door. I was on my way towards my bus stop when I realised that my bus had just driven past me. “HEY WAIT UP!” I yelled from the top of my lungs. But it didn’t work. School was 4 blocks away and the rain was getting harder by the second. And believe it or not in minutes I was drenched in water. I looked at my reflection in the puddle in front of me. And in an instant something bizarre happened.......

State Of Origin

Last night was State Of Origin. An event where Queensland and New South Whales go up against each other. The team Queensland is based nearer to Brisbane, and the team New South is based nearer to Sydney. I'm the only person in my house that supports QSL. It's quite funny cause the rest of my family support NSW. In the first 5 minutes of the game Jarryd Hayne from NSW scored a try. And eventually Michael Jennings scored a try as well. But luckily Darius Boyd scored a try for QSL. I was definitely gutted that my favoured team had lost, but this was only the first game out of 3. Things aren't confirmed just yet. I can't wait for the next game. Maybe we'll win this time.

Score: 14-6 to New South

Diabetes

What diabetes is:
Diabetes is a disorder where glucose (sugar) cannot enter the body’s cells because the pancreas doesn't make enough insulin. The insulin acts like a key so the carbohydrates can enter the cells. There are two different types of diabetes type 1 and type 2. Type 1 means that the pancreas doesn’t make enough insulin. Glucose then builds up in the body which makes you fatigued or tired. Type 2 means the pancreas makes insulin but it doesn’t work properly. Sometimes if untreated, you may experience a different variety of disabilities.

How it works:
It starts in the stomach. All the food gets divided into 3 groups, carbohydrates, protein and fat . The carbohydrates break down to starches and glucose, which enter the bloodstream. While they’re travelling through the bloodstream, the pancreas then produces insulin. The insulin acts like keys so the glucose can enter the muscle and fat cells. This gives energy to the body.

What goes wrong?

The consequences and the effects to having diabetes can be very severe. Things like blindness, tiredness, and lack of urine affect your body. To make it even worse, if you've been living with it for quite a while, as in years, you will quite possibly die from a sudden heart attack, stroke or even kidney failure. Having diabetes makes your life become more of a hassle.

Solution:
There aren't many solutions to having diabetes. Instead, people try to reduce the effects of diabetes by oral medication from their doctor. The easiest way to monitor type 2 diabetes is to exercise. Running around the basin, bike rides, or any fitness is the key. Unfortunately type 1 diabetes can only be reduced by getting an insulin shots from your doctor.
