‘Oh my goodness today is cross country’ I thought to myself, as I sat up from bed. After I got ready for school I sat in the living room saying to myself ‘I have come at least 15th or 11th.' Just because last year I came last, which was all because I brought the wrong shoes to school.
The 12 yr old girls lined up along the starting line. My heart was pounding with rapid speed. “CLAP” the blocks went, and all I could here was the noise of a stampede. Squash squelch was what I could hear so far from the mud we were all stepping in. It was a muddy disaster.
After I had passed a few teachers and adults here came the 12 year old boys. Then next after half way came Lepa, Havea and Kaiden. I was seriously annoyed. But for my group of girls I was coming at least 12th or 13th. I was really lost in my placing.
As Mary and I were walking and slouching at the same time, we saw even more people come past. When they had come past one person had almost slipped. “OH MY GOSH!! ARE YOU OKAY!!” I said to him. I couldn’t really remember who it was but it was one of the 12 year old boys. He then dusted himself off and carried on.
From afar I could hear Mr Garth Jacobsen’s voice coming from the loudspeaker. He was announcing who was coming what in placing.
My heart started to pump harder as I was heading closer to the finish line. "Go Rita" I heard one of the Takitimu people's say.
My heart was then at ease after I had passed the finish line. I was EXHAUSTED! But to my amazement I had beaten Mary Loseli who was way far back. I didn't know what I came, so I just sat down took off my muddy shoes and sighed that the whole event was over.
At the end of the day, I felt extremely exhausted. But overall it was the best Cross Country I had ever attended. Just because I didn't come last. Next year I am looking forward to be attending Cross Country. I can't wait.

Usain Bolt
Many people say that Usain Bolt is a Legend. He hasn’t yet been crowned as a Legend though. Usain Bolt has recently become the first man to win the 200m sprints at two consecutive Olympics. Apparently as he has recently won these medals, it is making history. But yet they don’t want to crown him as a legend.
Why? Because the president for the IOC Jacques Rogge said “The career of Usain Bolt has to be judged when his career stops.” “Let him participate in three, four games, and he can be a Legend. Already he’s an Icon.” I disagree. This shouldn’t stop Usain Bolt from being crowned a legend.
From some of the research I have gathered, it is clear that Usain Bolt is a very inspiring athlete to many young and old people around the entire globe. And he can inspire those who think that they can’t strive to be winners. The one thing that inspires me about him, is the fact that he came from being nothing, to becoming an international sensation. This young gentleman, has also made up a really cool move of his own, name ‘The Bolt’.

The Olympic Message
Baron Pierre de Coubertin the founder of the Olympic flag, said that “The most important thing about the Olympic Games is not to win, but to take part...just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle”. This is the olympic message that was devoted to all the athletes and the participators, coming from the one and only, Baron Pierre de Coubertin.
The Olympic message can be explained in many different ways, to many different people. My opinion about the Olympic message is very much alike. Life isn’t always about the glory, but it is also about the trials and tribulations you go through. If you go through things like struggles you can learn from it, and accomplish much more things, and be successful in life.
I agree with the statement because it is exactly what people are doing now a days. People should be in it for the participation, instead of for the triumph. I am usually cocky when my team wins a game, but now that I have read this, it has shown me the right thing to do, when winning. Is to be humble.
Being apart of the Olympics takes up a lot of time from the athlete’s social life. The one main thing that they do give all is sacrifice. For instance they gave up all of their time just to train and prepare for the Olympics. In other words they have to keep on a strict diet, specific foods and much much more. To help them get through the tough times they always have the Olympic message running through the back of their minds.
The Olympic message is very helpful to those athletes, that look down on themselves. And I think that it will help a lot of other people in their own lives and social lives. And it will sure help them strive to the end and be successful in life.

Goldie Painting
This painting is one of the many paintings that was made by the famous
Charles Frederick Goldie. It is called ‘Caught Napping’. It was painted at
least 111 years ago. This is a wonderful painting of the well known Hamiora. Charles Frederick Goldie painted many Maori people because he was inspired by their mokos. Our Extension group had to recreate a painting of our choice from this artist. We had to recreate one of his artworks to be able to present at our schools art exhibition.
My choice was ‘Caught Napping’. This painting is to me a random painting. It kind of doesn’t explain anything. It doesn’t make sense in any way. Which is kind of like a mystery, that I was really interested in finding out.
In the process of the making of my artwork, we had to take our time with the shading. To be able to make it look 3D. It was very hard and took a lot of time and effort to make. We also had to try and make it look exactly like a replica of the actual one.
I ended up actually satisfying myself with my end result. It turned out better than expected. I had a lot of trouble with the background as you can see. But it all turned out just fine for me.

Extension Project
In Extension we had been given the task of finding out information about any body we please. Some of us students did a couple of people from the star map website. Which were out of Nathaniel Lees, Albert Wendt, Neil Ieremia, Sia Figiel, Sopolemalama Fillipe Tohi and Sima Urale. I chose to do my personal favorite popstar. If you would like to find out who it is play the movie and you will see. The short clip has information of who she is and other very important things about her. She is a very good icon to those that want to be like her. Exactly like me. She always pushed herself to do her best and that is how she is in her position right now. Known as the most beautiful women in the world. I really want to be like her when I grow up. She is my idol and I bet an idol of many many more people around the world.
Outrageous Feelings

2. Each and every one of the women in this photo, have such excited facial expressions.
3. Their veins are popping right out of their faces from huge smiles.
4. Their hearts are filled with continues joy, as you can tell by their looks on their
faces.
